Congress 2026

XXIVth Congress of the International Szondi Association

The Executive Board of the International Szondi Association is pleased to announce the
XXIV Congress of the International Szondi Association.

The event will be held on

3–5 September 2026 in Rimini, Italy.
(Sala Sant'Agostino - Via Cairoli 36, Rimini)

The proposed topic of the Congress will be
Roots - Flowers - Fruits: Continuity and Renewal in Depth Psychology

expressing in a single image the living continuity of our work. Our roots reach deep into the intellectual and spiritual heritage of Depth Psychology and Leopold Szondi — into a body of thought that has shaped generations of clinicians, researchers, and scholars. From these roots, flowers emerge: new dialogues, fresh interpretations, interdisciplinary encounters, and the creative re-reading of Szondi’s ideas in the light of contemporary psychology. And from these flowers come fruits — practical applications, clinical innovations, research projects, and the formation of a new generation committed to carrying this tradition forward.

The Congress invites participants not only to remember, but to cultivate: to deepen our grounding, to allow new forms to blossom, and to harvest insights that speak meaningfully to the challenges of today’s psychological practice and theory.
The ISA conferences are understood as a coming together in their diversity of evolutions departing from and referring to the thinking and practice of Szondi's Schicksalsanalyse (Fate Analysis).

Rimini
Rimini, located on the Adriatic coast in the Emilia-Romagna region, offers a unique combination of historical depth and Mediterranean vitality. Founded by the Romans, the city still preserves remarkable monuments such as the Arch of Augustus and the Tempio Malatestiano, standing alongside a lively old town shaped by Renaissance humanism. At the same time, Rimini is internationally known as a meeting point for cultural and scientific events, with modern infrastructure and excellent hospitality. Its seaside setting provides an atmosphere of openness and reflection — a space where tradition and innovation naturally meet. As the venue of the XXIVth Congress, Rimini embodies the spirit of Roots, Flowers, Fruits: grounded in history, vibrant in the present, and oriented toward the future.

Scientific and Organizational Board:
Mátyás Káplár - head (matyas.kaplar@szondiassociation.org)
Verena Flubacher - member
Robert Maebe - member
Danuta Saletnik - member

The Congress will take place in the Sala Sant’Agostino, an elegant and modern conference venue located in the historic centre of Rimini, next to the Church of Sant’Agostino. The venue itself represents a successful transformation of a former historical space, built on the foundations of the ancient Augustinian convent and later used as the historic Cinema Sant’Agostino, combining cultural heritage with contemporary functionality. Its central location, within walking distance of numerous cafés, restaurants and important historical landmarks, will also provide participants with the opportunity to experience the unique cultural atmosphere of Rimini while fostering professional dialogue and international collaboration.
